Can I use Blogger as a Website?

Can I use Blogger as a Website

Blogger has spent many years as the first choice for many people who want to use a personal blog. But there are not many people who realise that you can also use Blogger as a stand-alone Website.

Yes, there is a lot of coding knowledge which is needed in order to get a Blogger Website up and running. It is down to this reason that Wordpress dominates around 26% of the websites which are built today.

But before you jump on this bandwagon, there is a good reason why you should choose Blogger as your platform of choice...

Using Blogger as a Website

I have written previously a short insight in to what I believe are the Key Facts when choosing between Blogger and Wordpress. All of Quillations websites are built on the Blogger Platform, and there is one main reason why: The Cost!

Lets break this down in to how using Blogger as a Website can help you save money in the long term:

Wordpress Website

By using Wordpress as your website platform, you will receive the following benefits:
1) It is easy to use. Basically, you can build your own website in a quick and simple way by choosing options, dragging and dropping.
2) It is simple to pick up how to make a website, and can be learnt by anyone.
3) You can create beautiful websites by using Wordpress Plugins, which are free and simple to use.

However, the downside of using Wordpress is as follows:
1) Everyone is using it. And in my opinion, it will not take long for Wordpress websites to all start to look the same. (Yes, this is just my opinion, but it makes sense; doesn't it?!)
2) The Monthly Cost - and this for me, is a big point which I will explain later.

Blogger Website

By using Blogger as your website platform, you will receive the following benefits:
1) It is easy to link all of you Google Products to your website. From your Gmail, to your Google Plus: Blogger will be linked to them all.
2) It is FREE to use - and again, I shall come back to this point.

There are downsides to using Blogger as a website, and I shall not be biased and skip there - although I will try and rush passed them!
1) You need to understand how to write codes to make the website look and work how you require it. (Yeah, but this is what WE are here for!)
2) Erm... I am struggling here! Ok, so I am biased to Blogger, but there is a good reason for this; honest!

Why I use Blogger as a Website

So lets look at the costing involved for both Wordpress and Blogger. These are estimated costs, but will give you a realistic sense of the difference between the two platforms.

Wordpress Costing

1) Cost of Domain Name: £12 per year / £1 per month
2) Cost of Hosting: £240 per year / £20 per month - minimum pricing
3) Cost of Building: FREE - based on yourself building the website
TOTAL COST YEAR 1 = £252
TOTAL COST YEAR 2 = £252
TOTAL COST YEAR 3 = £252
3 YEAR COST TOTAL = £756

Blogger Costing

1) Cost of Domain Name: £12 per year / £1 per month
2) Cost of Hosing: FREE - Blogger does not charge a hosting fee
3) Cost of Building: £300 / £25 per month - based on a simple website from Quillations
TOTAL COST YEAR 1 = £312
TOTAL COST YEAR 2 = £12
TOTAL COST YEAR 3 = £12
3 YEAR COST TOTAL = £336

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WORDPRESS AND BLOGGER

£420 OVER 3 YEARS!

So as you can see, in the long run, by buying a Blogger Website from Quillations, you can save yourself money in the long run. And with our flexible payment options, you can spread the total cost over a 12 month period
